I have no voice but mine

Dreamed, dreams are sometimes full
Of meaning vague and profound
One such full of spirit's influence
Wherein dreamer obeyed the pull
Of right and good and found
That soon the darkened path made sense

So am I on that same road
That leads beside the fall
Into the waters dark and swirling
Wherein others have strayed
And through the mists I struggled
And fell beneath a load
But caught the rod
And pressed on through it all
Moving toward the tree
Where all my hopes and dreams are laid

And though those who exalt themselves
Point and laugh and mock
I refuse to loose my grip
Or leave the shepherd's flock
For I have seen the weary ones
Who fall into forbidden paths
And are lost
And I have seen the joyful ones
Who have held fast and reached their goal
Despite the cost

And when at last I reach the tree and fall
Upon my knees, so overcome with light
I then shall know of the value of it all
Rejoice in that I know my choice was right.
